What a colour-change wrap costs, and what drives the price

Wrap quotes vary wildly, and the cheap ones usually cost more later. Here is what actually drives the price of a colour-change wrap so you can compare honestly.
We will not print a fixed price here, because an honest wrap quote depends on your specific car and the finish you want, and any shop quoting a flat number sight-unseen is guessing. What we can do is explain exactly what drives the cost, so when you compare quotes you know what you are comparing.
The film itself
Cast colour-change vinyl from a reputable manufacturer is the material that lasts, conforms to curves, and removes cleanly years later. Cheaper calendered film costs less and behaves worse: it shrinks, it is harder to lay without seams, and it fights you on removal. Specialty finishes, colour-shift, and textured films cost more than standard gloss or matte. The film line is the first big variable.
The car
A coupe with simple panels is a different job from an SUV with deep curves, lots of trim, and complex bumpers. More panels, more recessed areas, more trim to remove and refit means more film and more hours. Some vehicles require partial disassembly to wrap properly, and that time is real.
Coverage and detail
A full colour change includes the parts you do not see at a glance: door jambs, the edges, under hoods and trunks where the eye expects continuity. A cheaper quote often skips those, which is why it looks wrapped from ten feet and obviously wrapped up close. Chrome delete, roof, and accent work add scope. The more thorough the coverage, the more labour.
The labour, which is most of it
A wrap is almost entirely skilled hand labour. Prep, templating, laying without trapping dirt, wrapping edges into the gaps, post-heating to set the film, and a careful refit of trim. The difference between a wrap that looks painted and one that looks shrink-wrapped is hours and skill, not film. That is where a real quote lives.
Bring us the car and tell us the finish you have in mind. We will scope it honestly, explain where the cost is, and give you a real number rather than a teaser that climbs once the car is on the bench.
